Cleanest non-flush crapper I ever used was funnily enough about 15,000 ft up in the himalayas. A stout plank with a hole in it traversing a swift running stream. The idea was to finish yer business before yer nuts froze off.

The one thing that could be guaranteed out there is there is always somebody a thousand feet above you crapping in the same river you are filling your water bottle from.

If you have any whin bushes in your garden you could have a dump behind that.
When its filled chuck it over into the neighbours garden.

I was faced with the same problem so i built a new downstair loo under the stairs first, simples, you could always get one of those comode type chair...

Hi all,

Thanks for all your advice. We have decided to remove the cistern for plastering and just use a bucket of water and when we need to. Then we can keep the pan in place until we swap over with the new loo.
