builders bonanza!

there must be loads of people who wish they had a hole as big as yours in their back yard.

it would be a great place to lose spoil if ever you were planning an extension........

underground shelter.

In all seriousness - why not! If you are going to build an outhouse on it, why not have an outhouse with a serious cellar in it :D

Either that, or if you fancy several very long journeys with a trailer, I've got about that much soil going spare at my place - and am desperately wishing I had a large hole to stuff it in

Cellar idea is a good one - less infill required.

Either way put footings for your outhouse in now (shuttered?) and fill in around them. You will have to dig out at least to the depth of the hole for footings when you build.

Hi, Amirzal,
You could advertise for clean hardcore, but the problem is that builders will bring all sorts of rubbish with clay, wood, and possibly even asbestos.
So unless you see someone knocking something big down...
The cellar idea is good but expensive, it will more than double you construction costs.
If and when it is filled with good compacted hardcore, leave it 6" lower than finished path and use a raft construction instead of strip founds.
