How to fit stair handrail where it meets wall...

I've taken out the wall that ran alongside the staircase on one side. I now want to fit a newel post, handrail, and banisters etc to the left hand side (see picture).

I can't work out what to do thought where they'll meet the wall - they'll be slightly offset from the wall to the right, so do I stop them here or cut the handrail and banisters in half so I can fit them beyond this point next to the wall?

i am assuming a properly fitted banister would not fit in with enough room to hold on to
if so i would fit a newel at the top off the opening rebated half width over the wall so the wall is rebated into the end for half the thickness
then finish beyond with something like pigs ear that wont stick out to much
