Hi all,
Would really appreciate some advice on this, one of the two window door locks is broken as when I turned the key to the lock position the lock part would still press in and hence window would not lock. How much roughly would it cost to get it fixed? what would be the process? would a whole new window need to be put in? would someone have to come out and repair it? is it something someone like me could do who is no good at DIY?

Looks like a tilt n turn window/handle, you can google tilt n turn handles otherwise google espag handles, then you have the choice of inline or cranked - left hand or right hand

I bought new keys but they dont make any difference. You know the little black part that the key hole goes into which pops in and out and stays permanently in the popped out position when locked and presses in and out when unlocked, well this part is constantly permantly in the flat pressed in position and no key will even turn it? why is this? and why are both windows like this? surley if one of them is broken the other one surley cant be broken the exact same way? any ideas?

You don't need a new window.

if you can't manage it yourself, ask around for recommendations of an established local repairman. There is sure to be someone who specialises in repairing plastic doors and windows because they are so unreliable.

A website where traders pay to be listed, and can "manage" bad feedback is an advertising site, and is not the same as a personal recommendation from someone you know.

Hi
I totally understand your predicament. A step by step process is required before contacting a qualified locksmith.
1. If you can turn the handle into its opening position there are two small panels left and right. To take these out you will need to use a small blade and just dig in into the side of each panel and slowly remove the panel. There after I would recommend unscrewing both sides of the handle. Take the handle and the spindle off and put in a safe place for now. Using a large flat head screwdriver you can insert this in the hole and turning the lock. If this still does not work unfortunately locksmith will need to be called and depending on which area you're in location does make a difference to the price. I would recommend in contacting a local locksmith within your area or if you have any questions feel free to contact me and I shall certainly help. www.londoneastlocksmith.co.uk
