how to nail flat beading down !!!!

hi.guys wondered if u can me, laying a t&g real wood floor was thinking about putting down flat beading t cover the expansion gap but how do u pin the flat beading to the skirting,if u pin to flat beading through into the floor would this move with the floor sorry if it sounds a dopey quetion cheers

Flat beading (5 to 6mm thick) is pinned to the floor, not the skirting (it's not scotia).
It will move with the floor indeed, but if you use tiny pins and the floor does expand the beading will start to lift - giving you a first sign of movement of the floor. Nothing to worry about, with solid floors it happens more often than with wood-engineered floors.
If this happens, just pin it back down.

You could also use double sided tape if you prefer that.

The 'nails' to look for are moulding pins. Like panel pins, but on a diet.

I's suggest starting the pins off by doing a pilot drill with a 1mm hss drill- would make the job easier and save any issues with splitting bead.

Why does it have to be so thick ? Is 4mm too prone to room temp, or just not readily available ?

Most installers use a nail gun and 4mm has then a larger risk to split, so due to demand thicker beading (but not too thick otherwise we can't cut it with the special 'beading-cutter')
