I am undertaking my garage conversion and want to run new central heating pipes to the new radiator before I lay the new floor (floating t&g chipboard on celotex).

What's the best way to make sure the new pipes are in the correct place and will be directly underneath the valves when the radiator is hung?

Seems like a palaver hanging the rad to then take it off again. No more efficient way? How do plumbers undertake this task before a plasterer comes in?

Simply run the pipe under the floor and worry about the tails
for the radiators later.

There is no way you'll make holes in the right place
for a radiator otherwise. Even hanging the radiator first
won't work because the plaster will move the radiator
further away from the wall. Hole for radiator pipes need
to be millimeter perfect to look right.

work out where the centre of the rad comes - then bring 2 tails up about 2 inches apart - then run to either end when the rad is fixed .

measure an existing rad, what you need to know is from the end of the rad to the centre of the pipe, a TRV and lockshield are different, (about 50-60mm from the edge of the rad) also measure how far off the wall the pipes are, decide what size rad you will fit in the garage and mark the wall at the appropriate places, easy peasy

Thanks for all the responses guys. Something to consider there :).
