Could anyone advise ?..I have an old - 1900's - piece of furniture - the veneer is peeling and though this was easy to remove, the rest of veneer won't budge  Does anyone know of a preperation/techique for making the task easier. Many thanks

It is likely that it was stuck with an animal glue (hide glue) this is soluable in water. The usual way is to place a damp towel on the surface then apply heat with an iron, once you get an edge to lift add some hot water into the gap and keep applying the iron.

Jast take care with iron & water
