How to remove Sealent from around UPvc door ??

I bought a second hand UPvc door which is ideal for what I need, only problem Is that it still has rock hard sealant around the edges from
Previous instillation. ( pic in album) It doesn't seem to be that stringy stuff, it's solid. I don't want to damage the door attacking it with a knife,
Any suggestions on what will get it off?

Wedge shaped timber will do little damage though if it's marked it may be hidden with sealant on installation or a narrow pvc trim of which there are many types.
