How to remove thermostatic cartridge

Any ideas how to remove the thermostatic cartridge in my shower? It's running hot and cold so checking if it's clogged or something obvious.

have you a combi boiler and is it relatively old?

You'll have to unscrew the chrome cowling and that should let you into the valve. Are you sure it's thermostatic?

Erm... Not sure it's thermostatic actually!

We have a combi which powers another shower and that holds the temp ok .

If it was just a mixer shower, is there any reason why the temp would fluctuate? (Other than the boiler of course)

.... And the boiler doesn't seem that old. Less than 10 years I'd guess .
