Hi

Our Mixer shower - fed from Cold Mains and Combi Boiler is leaking. I think from the spindle that control temperature.

I have removed control knobs and casing, but the shower is unbranded and does not have make or model number on casing or unit underneath. I am thinking it will be best to replace it a new bar mixer shower as the present one is actually bulky and doubt I can get the parts for it anyway.

Here is a pic:

What I would most like advice on is how this is connected and how best to remove it from the supply pipes.

Thanks

Normally an allen key or crub screw will release the body of the shower (they are quite often hidden from view).

that mixer looks like a copy of a Mira. In which case, once you have undone the pipe connections, you give the mixer a quarter turn to release it from the plastic wall plate. I think you undo the brass nuts which connect to stubs coming through the wall. If the stubs are not well supported on the other side they may bend or twist. The elbows are probably screwed into the mixer body.

if you post pics of the mixer shroud and the logo on the knob, someone will probably recognise it.

it might be much better quality than a modern bar shower. A few "O" rings and some PTFE tape, after cleaning the parts, and it will be as good as new.

your may not be a Mira, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is a copy of one of their designs. You can find exploded copies of various models from
http://www.shower-spares.co.uk/mira/mira415_diagram_9301.htm
which will give you an idea of how it is put together.

if it is leaking round the spindle, then you can probably take off the front gland or whatever, descale it, fit one or more new "O" rings with a smear of silicone grease, and put PTFE tape on screwed or sliding joints, that will probably be all you need.

You can buy mixed boxes of "O" rings assuming there is not a service kit available for your brand.

Or if you email your pictures to a shower service specialist they will probably know what it is.
