Looking for advice on how to fix this worn area on my engineered wood floor (photo attached). The finish is gone in a strip near the edge, likely from foot traffic or moisture.

Can I repair just this section without refinishing the whole floor? Any tips on matching the color and finish? Also, is it safe to lightly sand engineered wood in a small area like this?

Appreciate any help or product recommendations!

Thanks!

I can't see woodworm?
I can see a small nail hole.

French polishing materials required.
Wood bleacher for that stain.
Light sanding and treatment.

The line looks uniform. Was there some kind of cabinet that has since been removed, and either had rubber/silicon ribs at the back?

It really does not look like foot traffic.

I cannot tell what finish was originally used.

It’s actually the dark line. There was a child gate above it before.

I am going with condensation on the metal gate causing a water stain.
Or rattling of gate by angry child frustrated with its escape route foiled by the gate
Either way you should be able to sand out the mark/stain and re seal
