Hi,

Reckon i'll get criticized for this, but how should i go about roofing this extension? I was thinking of an RSJ along the long dimension, with perpendicular exposed timbers - then I realised how heavy that would be.

The window means that i'd prefer to avoid a pitched roof. The house behind is also made of cob. As such, i'd prefer to avoid fixing into it if possible......

Will obviously get the expert advice of structural engineers and planning etc, - but hoping to avoid architects!

Any thoughts?

Whilst you're keen to avoid using a designer yet are after some free design advice here, it looks like you got Tony to do your drawings.

Have you considered how you are going to install flashing into a cob wall and the various clearances and internal ceiling height?
