trouble with hydrated lime is if its not fresh,(imo less than a month out of the bagging plant)all your doing is buying a bag of chalk,wont hurt but not the real deal.

Is there any way of testing the lime to check whether it is fresh or not?
I don't see why, you have this great summary thread about plastering and rendering, why scatter the information over several threads?
