How to secure something to a wall with 2cm gap

I want to secure a wooden shelf to the wall.
Because of the skirting, there's a 2cm gap.
How do I secure?

I fixed an Ikea wardrobe to the wall - but they had a plastic bit that fitted the gap nicely.
Just wondering what I could use?

If possible I'd either scribe the back of the unit around the skirting (jigsaw or coping saw) or failing that I'd consider cutting a couple of slots in the skirting (or even removing a complete section) using a multitool to accommodate the shelving uprights. The only other way is to fix a couple of battens to the wall the same thickness as the skirting to fill the gap all the way up the back of the bookshelves, but TBH that always looks messy to me (you can never hide the joints and the wall may not be flat)

I think I'll just have to cut a piece of wood and add at the top
