And Bus Bars...
Years ago working in a BT exchange a contractor was extending the 50v supply busbars (6 layers of 10"x1/2" copper bar - with massive batteries providing the power). Multi layer Bus Bars were through bolted together at the joints. So there is this contractor happily knocking a length of 1/2" studding through the -ve joint - studding had passed through the joint (12 bars) with the +ve joint spaced a couple of inches away - every time he hit the studding with a hammer there was a cloud of sparks and molten metal as he had pushed the studding through one of the Bus Bars and half way through the other. The contractor had not put any insulated protection in place instead just replying on the insulated sleeving.
As exchange was big the batteries could not be fused. Made for an interesting clean up - the burn marks in the oak flooring remained as a reminder until the Strowger kit was taken out 30 years later.
