Here's a pic of the flexible pipe plus olive/nut combo:

I've put the olive/nut on the cut end of the copper pipe and I then attach the threaded flex pipe to it and hand tighten.
When I try to tighten with a spanner the flex pipe keeps turning as there is nothing on it to hold it firmlike an extra nut to put a 2nd spanner round.

How do the hell do I make this tight enough round the copper pipe then ???     [/img]

I put an adjustable spanner on the area of the valve with an arrow moulded on it. The upstand containing the 'valve head' will stop it turning in the spanner jaws.

Doh!

Try holding an adjustable spanner across the service valve whilst tightening.

PTFE on the threads of the fitting are a pointless waste of time. Guess you didn't know that!
