Hi,

Just moved into flat and the boiler is pulse coil 2000. There’s an off peak switch and a pump switch. I turned on the off peak switch assuming the pump switch was for the boost function but it heated up without supplying me water. Someone came to have it checked but wasn’t familiar with the boiler so just switched the pump button on and hot water came out taps.
Is there no boost function connected then?

Also it has taken a lot of money despite being offpeak no idea Why ??

Lower element is likely connected to the "off peak" switch.
The upper element has no wire connection and would typically be used for a daytime peak rate boost via a switch (where the one labelled pump is currently?)

The switch labelled pump - you'll have to trace the wire to find out where it goes and what it controls...

Your electricity may or may not be E7 or similar with peak and off peak rates?
Check with the supplier who you have entered into a deemed Contract with... You have taken meter readings and contacted the supplier with those?

https://www.gledhill.net/products/thermal-storage/pulsacoil-stainless/ may be useful if you have no manuals.

Are you owner or renter? If rented contact the Landlord for instructions/advice on this thermal store and any similar missing instructions.

1. Its a thermal store for hot water, not a boiler.
2. The immersion heater heats all the water in the cylinder to around 80 degrees.
3. When you open a hot tap, a pump circulates water through a heat exchanger (which may be a separate coil of pipe inside the store). This water, at mains pressure, is heated by the body of 80 degree water and passes to the tap.
4. You only have one immersion heater connected. The immersion switch should always be on.
5. The pump switch is for the pump at 3. above, and should always be on.
6. There is no boost function for the cylinder.

Now I've scan read the manual ...
There should be a boost feature using the second higher immersion (for backup use) the makers say. (Although maybe not essential to have it).

Note that the pump circulates the same stored hot water around one side of the internal plate heat exchanger and back to the tank to heat the domestic mains pressure hot water 'instantaneously' in said heat exchanger's 'other side'.

If there is no off peak electricity switched to the lower thermostat this store's only plus point is that it provides mains pressure domestic hot water without the need for an unvented cylinder (saving the servicing cost of one).
