Genius required aspa re: Pulsacoil 2000 ongoing problem.

those controllers on a single supply burn out fairly often, I've changed lots, don't know the techie reason why though.

Hi,

Ok, the new controller just arrived and I have got it on!

The boost button did exactly what the previous controller did, the unit made that distinctive kettling noise..

When I got the off peak to come on there is no sound - should there be any sound? Should it be easily heard?

Just noticed the the pcb board thing buzzes and the unit kinda hums and sound like it is doing something inside (regardless of whether the water is supposed to be heating or not).

Any ideas, guys?

Thanks. I will know if it's working in a few days (off peak over night heating and getting rid of any water that is hot from yesterday's boost x3)..

Have you confirmed that the main (lower) immersion element is serviceable?
(I know you may have answered this already but it's a long thread)

He means that it is it in a working condition physically ie not broken (physically)

Matt

sorry ....too slow again :)

did you inspect the old backplate?
if you elected to plug the new controller onto the old backplate that is
The new backplate should have been fitted ideally

Matt

Ok, but can you personally confirm that it works because you have seen it working on the occasions that you had pulsacoil 'experts' looking at it?

Ah, no. That is the existing box that I put my new controller straight on/into?

I can remove the front and have a look. What, specifically, am I looking for?

No, cos I don't know what to look for, that's why I got them in. I watched them put testers on the unit thing.

Fair comment matt1e.

andrew197 can you check that there are no loose wires or anything else on the back plate that might insulate it from the controller.

when i put the new controller on I changed the time so the off peak came on the controller. No noise like the kettling sound the boost makes.

The unit 'hums' intermittently and the pcb makes a buzzing sound at the same time as this humming. Is this normal?

Ok, We're going round in circles here! Get that lower element replaced then see where you are.
