How to wire spotlights

The ceiling rose - transfer the connections into a junction box the ceiling space.

You need 3 Twin and Earth cables going down to a 3G switch and terminating in 3 junction boxes in the ceiling space. See "for reference" link that RF posted above, there are loads of wiring diagrams for how to wire switches and lighting circuits there.

From the 3 JBs, take the 3 feeds to the 3 rows of lights and LV transformers (if applicable).

Remember, the total load on a 6amp lighting circuit cannot exceed 1380w at any one time.

How was it of no use to you? There are diagrams in there which show you exactly what you are wanting to do.

EDIT: Most mistakes on lighting circuits occur by connecting the switch wire up wrong. IF you decide to DIY, please familiarise yourself with the fact that a switch is a simple contact that Breaks the live pole only. NEUTRALS DO NOT GO TO SWITCHES.

ok I don't think I understood that properly ur saying that I will have three cables one for each row of lights going from a 3g switch to 3 junction boxes - I assume this would mean that insdie the jb the would be a live neutral and earth terminal and a switched live so the blue sleeved brown would connect to the swiched live and the brown to the live(earths all to the earth terminal sleeved) Then I would connect each row of spotlights to one JB right?

i don't know if it is Ok to power off the celing rose and would it be Ok to power all three rows off it or just one etc etc

You CAN use that ceiling rose to power one of the sets of lights, just transfer the connections in the rose into a junction box hidden in the ceiling.

that's right I don't understand the way to do it which is why I am asking


so the connections in the ceiling rose i transfer to a jb and then link another jb to power the next set or are you saying to connect a cable to the N and the LOOP of the rose terminals so that the JB is provided with power and then connect a switch and a row of lights to that JB

I would be able to do it if they are all operated by one switch, but is there some regulation or something that won't let me have three rows coming from the same rose

by rewire you mean I'd need to run cables all the way to my CU?

no, but if you did as suggested you would know how its done

may i say that from what you have written you are either dumb, or a good wind up merchant, since you have been told where to find what to do etc, and yet you still persist in asking the same questions.
