After installing HSA6400 this morning and just completed fixing the siren for some reason the PIR on the landing activated and eversince the alarm went off and we finally managed to stop it, we have been unable to activate the PIR again even though we have reprogrammed the whole system again. Any suggestions?

might be the batteries loose or the tamper not pushed in. From what you describe more likely the tamper on the PIR.

IMO it is best to learn in and test the whole system laid on the table before you screw things to the wall.

It is possible (but rare) to have something interfere with the radio signals, perhaps if there is metal close to the sensor, or an electrical or electronic item near the panel. In this case, move the sensor or panel to a better position and retest before screwing into place.

Look at the logs on the control panel. What do they say?

thanks JohnD for your comments. The control panel displayed Alarm Alarm and stated the area was the PIR mentioned. As a consequence we have dismantled all the system and we are starting again - a long process as we have to re-learn the devices to the alarm to check everything out again. Didn't realise there was so much to install technically for this system and we are thinking twice about why we purchased it.

H i JohnD, the control panel stated the PIR and location was activated to set the alarm off, so we have taken it down and reprogramming all the devices in again. We think it could have been set off by the vacuum cleaner being used on the landing. We are now pulling everything down and starting again. Do you have any quick tips to re- install the system again as the manual seems to be very difficult to follow.

you haven't described what the log says.

I see no point in re-setting and re-learning the system.

Have you taken the suspect PIR off the wall yet? How did the batteries and tamper spring look? Was the front correctly fitted (look at the regularity of the join) and screwed in place firmly?

Is there anything in the fault log?

What is in the main log (access via the programming menu)

If you have reset the panel you will have wiped the logs.

I recommend taking the siren off the wall and wrapping it in cushions until you have identified the problem.

The Yale alarm is usually pretty simple to install. It sounds like you had a problem with one PIR, most likely tamper or battery I should think, and have gone too far in wanting to rebuild the whole system. Sorry.

Do several walk tests before refitting the parts, and several walk tests after.

Thank you for your advice JohnD, we have taken the control panel down now and will do as you suggest, once again thanks for your time and advice.
