HTC Desire screen part number

OK there isn't a mobile/smartphone forum on here but hopefully one of you guys can help. I need a new screen for an original Desire, but there are two different ones available and they aren't cross compatible. Is there an easy way to tell which I have? If I need to take it apart and find the number on the screen, where will it be? It's the actual screen I need not the touch sensitive clear bit that goes on top. Cheers

How did you get on?

Need to replace my Galaxy S lcd and was told not to even try to separate the digitizer from the screen. [£15 for glass as opposed to £90 for both together].

The digitizer is so well glued to the glass that it may be 'safer' to replace both - at a cost

Not had chance to have a go at it yet, the phone belongs to a friend who I've not yet managed to see to collect it from. I don't think they're bonded together on the HTC though

Very helpful, but does expect you to work out how to put it back together again yourself. Screen wasn't bonded to the digitizer. I substituted a plastic knife for the official levering tool, worked quite well
