HW but no CH! HELP!!!!

Hi,

I have gas CH, Vaillant combi boiler.

The HW is working fine, but CH not working . Boiler needed topping up with water which we done day before yesterday, worked fine since then but didnt come on this morning. tried to put on constant instead of timer but still not working at all!!

Its freezing in my house & I have 7 month old baby so any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like you have the same problem as me. When you turn the heating on does the boiler attempt to fire up but then fail?

It doesnt even attempt to fire up!!

The pilot light is on. when you turn it on it makes a noise but nothing else happens!!

wrong time of year for this to happen!!

8+ year old boilers do need servicing rather invasively if this sort of thing is to be avoided. They rarely get it unless DP is about.

When will people learn central heating is for the benefit of repairers not owner/users.
