iDEAL CONDENSING BOILER NEW ( 2010 ) ( ICOS HE15 )

NEW wILO pump fitted last year ( was noisey for a while ( cavitation - vented system ) )

so - hot water fine

when demand for CH = nothing - fault code H6 ( not in manual... )

thermostat seems fine ( lights up... )

pump leaks water as soon as centre screw is loosened - but is otherwise dead - control box(!? NEAR TO PUMP / CYLINDER - has 3 lights and a button - clicks flashes green red when button pressed (!!? )

so is pump US? ( 5 year gntee... ) or...?

Boiler model would help.

See the FAQ on spinning the pump!

"tested pump " as per "spinning the pump " faq I think - not sure I found the right FAQ Tony...

water dribbles out when centre "bleed screw " removed - inserting smaller screwdriver and impeller moves freely... Pressing button on Honeywell control(?) box next to pump causes impeller to spin and some noise from electronic valve control box on pipe coming out of hot water tank half way up tank... THIS box is very hot and not doing anything ( I took it off - no movement but hot ) looks old...No idea what its function ( it has AUTO setting and/ or HW/CH setting? ) is but I guess if system detects it is faulty ( Fault code H6 (b?) it stops CH working? I'll google "motorised valve for Ch system etc and see what that comes up with...

CH demanded - nothing

however - as mentioned previously - small control box ( Honeywell ) near by has button on it - and 3 lights - pressing this starts pump ( vibration felt ) for </= 1 second and flashes second light down to red

still dead pump / CH

I assume you have 3 port mid position valve

Could be no power to valve head from room stat.

Could be a failed motor.

Could be faulty contacts on micro switches, which prevent power reaching motor or prevents power from valve head to boiler.

Could be a stiff valve spindle. (if not used for some time)Can head be removed for checking
If valve head is deemed to be faulty, replacement heads are available for modern versions of some valves which would be the best option in my opinion.

Yes it is the 3 port Danfoss

definitely has power ( getting hot - some noises !)

I can move valve via the manual lever ( so can ask on control panel for hot water then divert to rads via lever on the Danfoss box! ) so valve not too stiff - but will investigate further...

they are on ebay for 29.99 - so will prob just get replacement unless the head units are serviceable ?
