Why are you covering the ceiling with upvc???
If it is in bad condition, then over board the ceiling, re-plaster and paint. Don't forget good ventilation........... Wired extractor fan with timer.

No sealant required, though you may need a bucket to catch condensation if you don't follow 'Herts' advice.
