Where is it from? Dewhurst's 
And even now it's more sound than the one used by the guy who cut into it.
No it is a full length joist, running parallel with the wall which the conduits go down.

Do those notches comply??
More than half of a joist is a no-no isn't it? Not sure if it counts if they are made near to a joint though
