Hi all,

I'm in the early stages of planning a bathroom refurb where I hope to do as much as possible myself. However , I have some confusion about the existing Durgo / AAV that is installed in the cupboard under the basin.

First, let me say that my current configuration has not caused any problems since I have lived in the house (4 years), I just want to be sure that it is correctly installed before I start the refurb work.

I heave read a bit around Durgo's and spoke to a few people (non professionals) and from what I understand they need to be installed 200mm above the highest water entry point.

However, what is really not clear is whether that is 200mm above the point where the water enters the basin (i.e. the basin overflow in my case) or 200mm above where the basin waste connects to the 4" soil pipe.

As you can see from my photos, the Durgo (left hand side of the cupboard) is well below the basin overflow point, but is above the point where the basin waste enters the 4" soil pipe.

Some confirmation about whether the configuration is ok would be much appreciated.

Thanks

No lower than where the waste exits a bath, basin or wc.
Yours is too low

It's where it connects to the stack, so 200mm above the branch (the highest wet pipe connection). Hard to tell what yours does.

It's best to follow the manufacturer's instructions which you may not have.

Thank you both for your replies.

You can see my issue as you have both replied with the conflicting opinions I keep reading and hearing everywhere :)

I don't have the original manufacturers instructions, but I can see on top of the valve that it is Durgo branded.

Thank you. Although that diagram is obviously not to scale, it doesn't help that the 200mm looks like it is above the waste on the basin for some extra confusion :). I will have to try and find the Durgo specific instructions.

However, in your opinion @denso13 , if the basin waste is the highest connecting branch on the stack and joins it somewhere underneath the cupboard/floor and is 200mm below the top of the valve, it is correctly installed.

Is that correct in your opinion?

Thank you
