I have an Ideal Classic SE15FF Boiler which isn't working. The pilot light it lit and its making a noise like its about to start up but never does. From the outside there is air coming out the exhaust so i assume its not the fan thats gone.

Reading the instructions it says press the reset button. But this button is a kind of plastic cross sitting in a kinda of inverted nut, (the thread is on the outside). It doesnt seem to press like a button. Is it a case of turning the cross bit?

ah, ive just read another thread on this. does the botton pop out if the boiler needs reset, but does nothing if it doesn't?

The button you are describing is the overheat reset button.

The boiler does not have an actual 'normal' reset button.

If the fan is spinning but there is no sparking, then first thing to check would be the aps.

As this is a safety device it should really be checked by an RGI.
