Hey all,

Hoping someone can help here. Boiler seems to have developed a bit of a problem. Sometimes its making a ticking sound for a few seconds (perhaps up to 10s), which i reckon is the thing similar to that of the electric gas igniter on a kitchen hob trying to light the gas in the boiler. Its not doing that all the time.

When i put the heating or the hot water heater on, the gas ignites for a few seconds, then cuts off. It then relights for a few seconds and cuts off. Process keeps repeating itself. dDon't want to leave it on for long incase i do some damage.

Anyone any ideas? From what ive gathered, i think it maybe a blocked injector, knackered ignitor for dead (or dying) flue fan. Kinda hoping its neither terminal or expensive.......

its neither terminal nor expensive, but as m`learned monkey hangin mucker said it will require an rgi as the probable failed/failing parts are in the combustion chamber

as already said the cheapest remedy is probably to get an RGI in to sort it out, maybe the pump is not pumping correctly leading to boiler overheating hence the cycling on / off.

Had this before and it was the pcb.

But sadly it could be a lot lesser a problem than this.

As said, a good recommended RGI giving it a full and proper service is a trusted starting point
