Ideal Classic NF50 Won't Fire

My boiler has just developed a fault whereby it mostly won't fire. By persisting I can get it to fire maybe one time in ten but even then it shuts down after about 10-15 secs. Any suggestions what might be wrong?

Is there any water in the header tank, and is the pump working.

A tad more info about the system would be good.

Service would probably sort it out as it sounds like a dirty pilot/ possible damaged electrode or lead.

I had one of these to repair a while ago and it was the gas valve solenoid breaking down so it would be better to get a RGI in to have a more detailed look as namsag has suggested!
