Ideal Classic RS40 .......Gasping Noise

I have noticed this noise just lately, more pronounced when first started and goes on for about 15 minutes.
It's sounds like someone exhaling moderately loudly every 1/2 second, I thought that it may be a water leak and water dripping onto the heat exchanger; or a gas valve.

Any thoughts from anyone?

I have never had this boiler inspected for safety, the company we pay the bills to is Southern Electric for gas and electrics. Who carries out this inspection? - British Gas?

Who are the cheapest for an annual maintenance contract?

the paying of a gas bill has nothing to do with getting a boiler serviced, you need to contact a service operative, whether it be BG, other company or an independant. Recommendations from family/friends/neighbours are often a good start.
