I have an ideal esprit combi. I have basic electrical knowledge can anyone help me with wiring in the receiver for hive. Currently only has the standard timer switch. Would be extremely appreciated
You should have a Hive Single Channel receiver for your boiler, like this.
Connect a 230V supply to the Hive's N & L terminals from the boiler N & L terminals in the centre of the terminal strip.
Remove the little yellow link between the boiler terminals to the right of the N & L in your picture. [Shown as Room Stat / Timer in your boiler manual]
Connect one of the terminals to where the link has been removed to Hive (1) Common and the other terminal that the link has been removed from to the Hive (3) Heating on. It doesn't matter which way around they go.
The cable sheaths should be securely fastened under the cable clamps.
The boilers internal timeswitch should be set to be permanently 'on' 24/7 to prevent it overriding the Hive.
Thankyou I did think that but someone told me I had to remove the time switch completely which I didn't think was true. I will give this a try when I get home. Thank You
no you dont have to remove the timer, as Stem says just switch it to constant and the Hive will control everything, if you do remove the timer you will have to link the switching wires from the timer so easiest to just set it to constant.
