HELP!!
British Gas installed my boiler in August 2007 and it failed to work properly.

Thet eventually came out in Nov 2007 and replaced a water pump which they said would cure the problem, but it didnt.

The boiler has finally given up the go and makes horrendous noises before flashing up L then F.

For the last year I have been having to bleed every radiator daily and topping up the water pressure.

I am scared to spend the £300 I have been quoted on this boiler as I have no confidence in it at all.

Any answers or help would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm saying nowt mate...just do a search on this forum on ideal isars.

....and british gas

I am shocked that British Gas endorse such an awful boiler...I spent £7100 getting them to install a completely new CH system and have had nothing but problems....did I also mention that it is spewing out water from almost everywhere?
Can this boiler be rejected under the 'sale of goods' act?

£7100?? and a 24 kw combi....you must have had your roller parked on the drive when that salesman knocked.

LF fault on these is flame detection error,U would normally change electrodes on any other boiler 4 this fault but with these its normally p.c.b fault if it hasnt already had the updated p.c.b fitted i.e not rectifying

I want rid of the damn thing after reading some of the stories on this forum. British Gas are not interested because I didnt take out the service contract and the boiler is outside it's warranty. I feel that I will have to sign up to their poxy service contract then wait 5 weeks every time I need a service pleb to change the PCB....

LF is not a " flame detection fault" however LF. is anyway, LF can be caused by gas pressure, ignition electrode, blocked sump, spark generator, gas vlv, poor earth, & last of all pcb.

LF. is caused by detection electrode, detection lead, pcb. 8)

LF is a flame failure

Regardless, I have a useless white box in my kitchen which farts, splutters and doesnt supply hot water or heat my house.

Now been told its the expansion tank which gets too full up and releases the water down the back of the unit or out of the external pipe.... so it's that, ...and the PCB...and the condensor sump and gasket.....
If this thing was a car, I would have dumped the thing on the garage forecourt where I had purchased it, and demanded a refund under the sale of goods act for not doing it's intended job......

I think British gas removed ideal from there sales list, the ideal isar is **** poor mate, sounds like they took you for a ride. ltr ideal blr looks good try one!

Yes...I was duped by a commissioned salesman...not a qualified service engineer! When the system broke down after 3 days I demanded a new boiler but they insisted on bolting a new PDS and pump into the brand new one....I will insist that they take me up on my demands now...dont want to be permanently on the call-out list for their engineers....as I am NOT confident that this boiler will last the next 5 years trouble free....
