Hi,

A couple of weeks back I installed a new rad and tested the whole CH system for an hour and it worked fine. Yesterday we found there was L/H9 status warning with no HW available so I did some research on here and droped the pressure to about 1.1 bar reset it & it started working again. Phew!

Anyway this morning I turned the CH back on for another test with a couple of rads turned on for 30mins. This worked fine but later on I found the dreaded H9 error so I decided to drain off the system to see if sediment may have blocked the pump - guesswork! I then re-filled it but I am still getiing no CH/HW. I have turned it off now and the last time it was on it (with CH set to ON) was stuck on status d with flashing burner symbol. Current bar pressure is about 1.2 - any ideas. I guess I might need to call a CH engineer but if there is anything I could try..

thanks in advance

adam
P.S yes I know this boiler is a bag of manure but it was there before we move in - not my choice guv

Make sure your filling loop is turning off properly, remove the hose from the filling valves to be sure, if the pressure continues to increase when the system is heating up, would indicate that the Expansion vessel needs recharging with air, or replacing

Thanx. Pretty certain the pressure is going up except when CH was working. When you say "Expansion vessel needs recharging with air" is that a simple task a DIYer can do or is a job for a service engineer?

Also what position should I leave rad thermostats on when trying to recover from this?

current status is d with bolier light flashing.

H9/L9 points to lack of circulation, typically a pump failure, however is not as clear cut as that.
If youve run the heating with only 2 rads on,have they got TRVs on?if so they could have shut down, and that would also cause a H/L9 code.
Fill to 1.5 bar,get all rads turned on (you have got 1 rad with no TRV havent you?) run the system and then see what happens,
If you get H/L9 with hot water tap running along with some boiler noise, that would piont to restricted DHW plate.

so 1.5 bar; all TVRs turned full on reset bolier at power. Turned on with CH switched to ON and nothing but a H9 warning. No noise when I turn on hot water tap...looks time for a visit from the central heating company

Adam

Try the reset button, boiler should at least try to run, what happens?

I have tried the reset key but it doesn't do much. I have turned the whole thing off now when I do turn it on I either get d, L9 or H9 status (with boiler light) the boiler itself feels warm so perhaps it does fire for a while. I suppose it could be the pump - not sure
