Lots of posts about boilers using too much gas so my apologies for yet another.
I am looking after my brother's apartment while he is away and have been providing him with gas meter readings. As the gas usage seemed high I have taken a reading every day at the same time for a week.
There are 8 radiators. The room stat in the hallway is set at 15. The TRV's on the rads are set at I. On the boiler the pre heat OFF. The controls on the boiler are set at the very minimum. The boiler is set to come on 4 x times a day for 20 mins each time.
For seven days the units used are 2.45 per day average. The meter is metric. When I turn this into actual money it seems rather a lot considering the heating is hardly on and everything is at its lowest.
The boiler is new but the radiators are old. Could it be the radiators require cleaned out?
Is there a better way of keeping the heating just ticking over?
Would appreciate knowing what the experts have to say?
