Your new guy clearly didn't have a pipe bender then?...
 
The old guy probably did have a pipe bender - a tripod one, so he'd just take his 22mm bending spring. And a can of spinach;) When all's said and done it's better than what was there originally.
 
I have left negative feedback on MyBuilder for the original fitter. He has just phoned me and threatened me!!!

I'd be straight into Small Claims for however much the bloke who got it working charged you (after an email to the clowns from MyBuilder requiring refund for their failure to provide the contracted service). Doesn't cost much, gives you a hobby and much satisfaction if you win. Trading Standards might be interested as well
