Hi all. My Ideal Mexico Super 2 boiler has been getting gradually worse over the past couple of months. When the boiler ignites, it does it with a mighty "bang" and the cupboard doors (that it is behind) blow open (only a bit) and there flames coming from the vent below. (Its not as bad as it sounds and the boiler is well ventilated).

Also the pilot light went out this morning ..... could it have been blown out?

I get the feeling that the electrics are switching on, the gas is being opened, but, because there is a delay in the pilot light igniting the gas, it goes up with one hell of a bang when it does ignite?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Its a late explosion that's occurring and could a lot of damage to your Boiler.

Switch it off and get a registered Gas engineer in to sort it. ;)

Delayed ignition is what you've got. The pilot going out is related. Get it serviced and that fault would be repaired within the service procedure. Slapper is quite correct with his advice.
