Hi all. We have a Mini Ideal C28 that takes 3 to 9 times to ignite the gas and get going. Water or CH.

It clicks on...there's a whirring....and then.....CLUNK!

And then it tries again.

We've had a new divertor valve, diaphragm and motor fitted recently.

But none have fixed this ignition problem.

Anybody got any ideas what the problem may be?

Any thoughts gratefully received!

All the best....Jeff

It would help if you said what model c28 you have and also the lights on the front are a diagnostic aid and the light codes are in your service manual.

There is a good chance that solving this will involve working on safety critical parts. That means that you are unlikely to get that advice here.
How old is this model, and when was it last serviced properly?

Thanks for getting back!

It's a Mini C28 NOO2921204 / 47-348-19 / GC158324

There is one diagnostic light which flashes green...a standby flash of 4 secs....and when it's on...a 2 sec flash. There's an ignition lock out lamp...which never comes on.

The boiler is about 5 years old and due it's next yearly service.

Is there some basic checks I can do which might be the cause of the problems I'm having?

The engineer who fitted the parts (it wasn't switching between hot water and CH) seemed to think a service could wait until the New Year...despite knowing of these problems...
Of course when he looked at it the bolier behaved impeccably! As usual!
He leaves...ignition problems.

Cheers again for any input. Am already on case of finding available heating engineer...!

There are several causes mostly gas related.

It may well be the pcb but a boiler engineer will check for you. Just make sure he is competent.
