Hi, Im having problems with the above boiler which has worked continuously & smoothly since 2005.

Fault symptoms started with intermittent hot water going cold mid flow. Turning tap off and back on cured that.

Then after a couple of weeks, the heating stopped working mid operation as well as water - the fault seem to have gone hard.
No - after I did some diags, the heating started working again and hot water would work with heating on, but would not work with heating off.

Today (one day later), the heating stopped after at least an hour of good operation and hot water also stopped. This does look like the fault is now hard.

Diags today:
Fault led error: "Faulty Primary circuit (no water or absence of flow)"

Tested as working:
3 way valve motor works when removed (unable to check if it actually moves the valve, but it sounds like it does);
CH flow pin comes out when turning heating on;
CH flow switch works;
HW flow led operates;
main pump operates smoothly
Heat exchanger cleaned (virtually no ditrius & no calcium)
Water drained was dirt free & the system was fully flushed on initial installation.

Symptom: Turn heating on - hear 3 way switch operate for 10 secs.
The pump starts 5 secs into startup and runs for 15 secs.
Then it all stops & the fault light comes on.
When HW flows the flow LED illuminates

Anyone with an idea?

Well - I've identified the problem - it was the CH flow micro switch not actually making a contact when the pin came out.

The Ideal help desk gave the response as soon as I reported the diags. so I guess its a known problem. I simply adjusted the micro-switch wand to connect earlier. I would have checked why the pin was failing to come all the way out, but the building is being demolished in a couple of months so a jury-rig solution is all I need.

Good luck to the next person who has a similar problem. :-)
