I am renovating a riad in Fes, Morocco. Its a wonderful place that gets surprisingly cold in the winter.
Unlike developed countries we don't have access to modern underfloor heating systems (electric mats and cables etc). so I was wondering if anybody knows if its possible to make one at home themselves?
My initial thoughts are of coils of copper pipes connected to a hot water tank and a pump.
Would PEX pipe work or would that not conduct heat efficiently? The heat would have to travel through approximately 4-5cm of mortar and 1.5cm ceramic tiles.
Any ideas on an accessible type of insulation?
ANY ideas welcome.
Thanks
