Identify an RCD please.

Hi

I have just moved into a new house to find that just before the electricity meter there is a device called a protek sd 62.

I cannot find any detailed info on this device but assume it is some sort of RCD.

Does anyone know what sort of RCD this is, and if I will still need another RCD adapter on a plug if using an electrical device in the garden e.g. a lawn mower or pond pump.

can you put a photo up, preferably showing where the device is in relation to the various cables around your supplier's fuse,meter,and consumer unit? A close-up of the consumer unit, with any lid open to show devices inside, will also help.

Protek is rather a budget brand.

A close up of the Protek device will also help. If you can't do that, please quote all letters and numbers printed or moulded onto it.

If it is before the meter then it is on the incoming feed supply from the lekky board and nothing to do with you.

If you have a new house you should have an RCD in your consumer unit (Fuseboard) protecting the downstairs sockets & maybe other things. Have you got one?
