My house has a block & beam floor. The garage is free standing with matching cavity
walls. As it has no air bricks, can I assume it will be just a concrete & screed slab? What is the quickest way to determine slab depth with minimal destruction?
(I am considering building a pit)
Thanks for any input.

Try drilling down somewhere in the middle of the slab. Then measure the depth when you feel the drill break through. This won't be dead accurate but should at least give some idea what you have to deal with. If you then decide it's too much agro you only have a drill hole to fill. Otherwise I can't see how you would find out without breaking up the slab.

Fitting a pit is something I've been considering for a long time. Trouble is I poured the slab so I know what I face ... and I'm not over keen!
