Identify this ceiling?

Ah, thanks! Checking google images of said product that's what I'm seeing alright.

So would this be commonly used to cover damp/mould? In older e.g. stone properties I've sometimes seen it and does look incongruous and suspicious. Along with cladding on ceilings and lower walls.

No it was the trend in the 80s, I wouldnt say it was ominous, millions of houses still have it.
It may contain asbestos though.
 
OK. Just looks suspicious in an old property when some ceilings have it and others not.
