hello.

I'm in the middle of a garden project. basically, i'm removing the decking that was installed by the previous owner of our house and replacing it with new stuff.

I've pulled up a few of the decking boards and it looks like there could be asbestos thats been dumped under the decking. I believe there used to be a garage at the bottom of the garden which was built at the same time as the house (in the 1908s) - so i'm guessing it must be the old roof...

firstly Is there anyway to tell if it is actually asbestos?

i've taken a couple of quick photos, although they aren't very clear.... there seems to be corrugated fibrous board and smooth fibrous board?

if it is asbestos, then what are my options?

Thanks

Treat it as asbestos. Hose it down to get it nice and wet and wear gloves and a face mask and bag it up [double bag it] tape the top of each bag, local councils often provide free disposal [mine does].

As Foxhole says, keep it wet and double bag it, this is asbestos cement, the fibers are only released if you break it up, or it's exposed to fire, the fibers then become airborne.
In this form it's relatively safe, if you take sensible precautions.
