Cannot find any part number on the heater customer believes they are 1KW each, but no sign of a plate. Will post pics tm. Anyone done much work with the old ones. They have one that does not work.Reluctant to start dismantling as read that some contain asbestos and would like to see my kids grow up if at all possible.

I really need to work out if the current wiring is sufficient for fitting new ones

1kW would be a very small storage heater - probably a single element, with the whole thing only about 15 inches wide.

If it's not working and power is getting to the heater, there are only a few things which can go wrong - element, thermostat/cutout or burnt/loose terminals. All of these will be obvious, and no need to do any major dismantling.

Some have a small sticker, with the model number on, only about 20mm square on the right hand end/side , of the outer casing,

Thanks everyone,

It is a XT12 series G, no asbestos, thank you God.

Both elements are open circuit so will replace them.

Cheers for heads up
