Hi All.

Looking for bit of advice.

Fitted Ikea beech (Lagan) worktops for customer. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00145748 All nicely done and finished. Afterwards, customer used Ikea Behandla wood treatment, as recommended by Ikea - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50070378

Customer followed instructions; wire wooled and applied - three times. Each time, after drying, the wood grain in some of the blocks "stands up". Appears to be the most obvious blocks; those where you can see into the end of the grain - if that makes sense?

Customer says grain nice and smooth after wire wooling, but pops up again after applying Ikea oil.

Any suggestions?

Is there anything she can do to polish off afterwards? Or maybe the oil isn't the best product?

Cheers all,
Neil

You normally only get that type of lifting when wetting the surface with water, not oil.

Foxhole.

Yes, my initial thought. But customer assures me they didn't use, or wipe down, with any water at all. Told them white spirit only.

Oddly, the Ikea oil says - on the tin - to clean off brushes with water. Also mentions it contains some water along with oils. Was wondering if this is normal?
