Excuse my ignorance, but I have moved to a new house and the hot water tank is in a bedroom, the heating is oil fired and the tank is seperate from the boiler.

Can i move the hot water tank to the loft? (it is finished and insulated) or is this a stupid question.

I believe that most cylinders required a three foot head, (i.e. distance between base of cold storage cistern and top of cylinder must be at least three feet.

Therefore, whilst you can put the cylinder in the loft, and this is something I've successfully done, you'll probably need to raise the cistern. A lot.
