Can anyone please tell me what's the Ohm rest. On a good 27" immersion heater. Element only.

You need to know the power of the immersion heater. They are usually 3KW, no matter what the length.

The square of the rated supply voltage divided by the power gives the resistance

V² / P = R

240² / 3KW = R

57600 / 3000 = 19.2 Ω

Then allowing a bit for the accuracy of your meter, direction of the wind, whether there is an 'R' in the month, etc. etc., if you clock somewhere between 15 and 22 Ohms, it's probably OK.

The resistance of the element should be calculated using 230v as thats the standard nominal supply voltage.

So

230v x 230v
__________ = 17.6 Ohms

3000
