Hello - we have a damp patch outside the shower screen. We've been told that this is due to the shower screen being installed incorrectly as silicone has been applied where the screen joins the tiled wall (am told it should only have been applied on the outside of the screen). The silicone applied where the tray joins the wall looks in good order.

I'd like to be certain that this is the root cause of the damp patch before shelling out a small fortune to get the screen re-installed and silicone applied. Does anyone know if this is the probable cause?

It could be the screen, but it could also be the silicone around the bottom of the tiles at that point not sealing correctly, or the tile grout letting by. It would need proper investigation to ensure that's where the issue was before any repairs were performed.

Its unlikely to be the silicone. Ive fit a few of these over the years and i always seal inside and out.

Are the tiles properly grouted?

Spray water on those tiles and side of the screen, does any water leak through?

Grouting looks in good order but will target the shower head on an area at a time and see if there’s any leakage. Many thanks.
