You were right guys - earthing problem they said.
Anyway its all fixed now - indis work, MOT'd and fully serviced and all done in a day . (Theres a new little blue thingy on the wires going into box in the boot that houses the lights in the right wing so I guess thats sorted whatever was wrong )
250 for the lot which aint cheap but was better than I had been expecting
