I had an inguinal hernia about 10 years ago. Had an op to fix it but don’t know exactly what method they used. I got mine, and don’t laugh, by trying to open a bottle of wine! We were away on holiday with friends, bought some wine and the only corkscrew in the property was the standard corkscrew with a wooden T handle. I screwed it in, put the bottle between my legs, it was a very tight cork. I pulled and pulled and pulled and then…twang! It felt like a cord to one of my knackers had snapped. Took a few years of suffering before I got it looked at but all okay now. Sometimes if I do a lot of heavy lifting or digging over the allotment, it might be sore for a while though.

Cor....I've done loads of cork pulling by that method and not suffered....touch wood!

But I would steer away from mesh if results in women's operations is anything to go by.
